Google BrandLab
Uncorked worked with BrandLab, a team within Google that helps the company’s top advertisers develop their video strategies. The deliverable: to redesign a wall in their San Bruno workshop space.
The creative challenge was to enhance the experiences of their workshop participants and create a sense of wonder upon entering the room.
Role: Put Motion to UI elements + Animate a "Quiet" Mode + Contribute to Strategy + Overall Motion Design

Challenge
BrandLab is a screens-down workshop within Youtube for high-powered executives. Project Cubby was devised to get devices out of participant’s hands, and into a secure, tucked away space, allowing a session free from distractions.
As they enter the space, guests find their individual cubby personalized with their name and a series of prompts and questions.
The wall updates as the guests interact with their cubbies, displaying a sequence of data visualizations on the above screen for the length of the cubby wall.

Process
Cubby had to be flexible, so BrandLab could engage with guests in different ways as the workshop progressed. As the motion design lead, I was tasked with how motion would help guide the experience throughout the day.
A “quiet mode” takes over while the workshop is session (see gif above). Quiet mode features more subtle animations designed to prevent distraction, while still making it easy for guests to find their individual cubbies.
As guests leave the space for lunch, the wall adapts again. This time the focus is on comparing top trending YouTube videos in the guest’s chosen demographic with those of the audiences they’re learning about in the workshop.
